Lucy is the founder of Newhall Veterinary Surgery. Since graduating from the University of Bristol in 2019, it has always been Lucy’s dream to start up her very own independent vet practice in her hometown of Ledbury. Lucy has an undeniable passion for providing the highest quality care for her patients and has made sure she could offer her own 24/7 out-of-hours care from her newly refurbished practice in Ledbury. In her (currently rather limited) free time, you can find Lucy walking her labrador, Susie, and baking a range of gluten-free goodies!

Martin Leith is a highly qualified and accomplished vet. He has been a dedicated veterinary professional since his qualification in 1981, bringing over 40 years of experience to our practice. Having worked in and around Ledbury, Martin has previously worked with Vet Lucy and Head Nurse Caitlin, who are excited to be working alongside him once again.

Martin is known for his personable approach and ensures the highest level of care for all his patients. He is also a skilled surgeon, offering the best possible care to animals in need. His expertise and dedication make him a valuable asset to our team.

Outside of work, Martin is an avid Welsh rugby fan and enjoys exploring the outdoors with his spaniel, Bertie. Whether he's cheering for Wales (sometimes desperately) or hiking through the countryside, Martin brings the same enthusiasm and passion to his personal life as he does to his veterinary practice.

Caitlin is our incredible head nurse. Caitlin completed her veterinary nursing qualification at Hartpury College in August of 2020 and since then has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience through her work at several local mixed practices. Through this, she has gained a particular interest in emergency critical care and theatre nursing. Caitlin leads our nursing team with skill, expertise and compassion, and is always dedicated to ensuring every patient receives the highest level of care. Having grown up locally in Newent and trained with Martin at his own practice, Caitlin is thrilled to be working in Ledbury once again. In her free time, Caitlin enjoys exploring the countryside with her spaniel Wilfy and, in springtime, helping out in the lambing shed.

Originally from Hampshire, Sophie found a new passion for walking in her spare time at University and after graduating decided to permanently relocate to the Herefordshire hills. On the weekends, you’ll either find her in the fields walking her rescue spaniel Maple or reading a book in front of the fire with her cat Nimbus.

Susie posing.jpg

Susie is Lucy's gorgeous black Labrador. She is 9 years old and has the kindest nature and best temperament making for a brilliant practice dog. You will find her snuggled up behind reception or sat next to Lucy keeping her company. She adores attention and takes pride in welcoming all of our lovely clients into the practice as well as helping out when she can. She has saved more than one other canine life with blood donations!

When she's not at the practice her favourite thing to do is chase balls on walks and of course eating any food she can get her paws on- she is a Labrador after all! She loves going to the Pembrokeshire cost with her family and playing in the sea.
